Custom decks & outdoor structures

A deck designed
before it's built.

Most deck quotes are a number on a napkin. Ours come with a 3D rendering, engineered span & footing specs, and an itemized fixed price — before you commit to anything.

The problem with deck quotes

You've heard the stories.

The contractor who disappeared in July. The deck that sagged by year three. The "estimate" that grew 40% once the posts were in. We build the other kind.

The napkin quote

  • One number, no breakdown
  • "We'll figure out footings as we go"
  • Price drifts up mid-build
  • You see the design when it's finished
  • Schedule is a guess

The Post & Beam proposal

  • Itemized, fixed price — line by line
  • Engineered spans, footings sized & counted
  • The number you sign is the number you pay
  • 3D rendering approved before we order lumber
  • Build week scheduled in writing

SEE IT FIRST

3D rendering with every quote

Walk around your deck on a screen before a single post is set. Change the rail, the stain, the stairs — on the drawing, where changes are free.

BUILT TO SPEC

Engineered, not eyeballed

Span tables, footing depth below frost line, ground-contact posts, hidden fasteners. We're happy to explain every line of the materials list — most builders hope you won't ask.

NO SURPRISES

Fixed price, in writing

Slope, soil, and access get confirmed at the design visit, so your proposal is a fixed number — not an estimate that grows.

How it works

Four steps. No mystery.

Design visit

Free. We measure, check grade and access, and talk through how you'll actually use the space.

Rendering & fixed proposal

Within a week: 3D rendering, engineered specs, and an itemized fixed price. Revise until it's right.

Build week

Permits pulled, materials staged, a clean site every evening. Most decks are built in 3–6 working days.

Walkthrough & warranty

We walk every board and rail with you, hand over your care guide, and stand behind the workmanship in writing.

Worth asking about

Dry space under your deck.

On elevated decks we can install a sloped drainage system beneath the joists that carries rainwater to a gutter — turning the space underneath into a dry patio for seating, storage, or a hot tub. Almost nobody in the area builds this. We do.

Add it to your estimate
From homeowners

Word travels in a small town.

Built for friends and neighbors across Central Kentucky — here's what they say about the work.

"The rendering sold my wife. The itemized proposal sold me. The number never moved, and the deck looks exactly like the drawing."

[First L.] — FRANKFORT

"We wanted sight lines through the rail without giving up anything on safety. The cable detail is clean, the stairs are wide enough for two people, and they left the yard picked up every night."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · CABLE RAIL DECK

"Our pool sat awkward in the yard and two other guys wouldn't even come look. They measured once, built the wrap tight to the rim, and the whole thing feels like it was always there."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · POOL WRAP-AROUND

"Our lot drops off behind the house — other builders talked about making it work. These guys engineered the landings, counted the footings, and built stairs that actually feel solid going down."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · HILLSIDE DECK

"We wanted to use the space under the deck for seating. The drainage system keeps it dry — first hard rain we sat under there and not a drop came through."

[First L.] — LAWRENCEBURG · UNDER-DECK DRAINAGE

"They framed around a tree we'd have lost with a cookie-cutter layout. Took extra time on the geometry and it turned out better than what we sketched on paper."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · CUSTOM LAYOUT

"Big pavilion, storage wing, metal roof — not a small job. They ran the schedule, showed up when they said, and built it right."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · PAVILION

"We sketched what the kids wanted and they turned it into a layout before ordering a board. Fort, slides, swings — all built in our yard, not bolted together from a box."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · CUSTOM PLAYSET

"We'd talked about a dock for years but didn't know who to call. Framed it over the water, decked it out, and now we're down there every evening."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · POND DOCK

"They didn't just build the deck — they tied stone steps and pavers into the front walk so the whole approach matches. One crew, one plan, no calling a second guy for the hardscape."

[First L.] — CENTRAL KY · PAVERS & STEPS

"Long privacy run, double gate, hardware that actually latches — they set the posts plumb, tied it into the house line, and it still looks straight a year later."

Common questions

Straight answers.

What does a deck cost?

Our builds start around $30 per square foot for pressure-treated lumber and run to $58+ for premium composite or hardwood with cable rail. A typical 16×20 composite deck lands in the low- to mid-teens. The quote tool will give you a real range in a minute.

Is the online estimate the real price?

It's an honest ballpark from our actual rates. Your fixed price comes after the free design visit, once we've confirmed slope, soil, and access. The number you sign is the number you pay.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We pull permits and build to code — engineered footings below frost line, code-compliant guardrails and stairs. You never deal with the county.

How long does a build take?

Most decks take 3–6 working days once materials are staged. We schedule your build week in writing, and we hold it.

How far do you travel?

We serve roughly 40 minutes around Lawrenceburg — Frankfort, Versailles, Nicholasville, Shelbyville, and the west side of Lexington.

Do you build in winter?

We design in winter and build year-round when weather allows. Winter design slots mean you're first on the spring calendar — and you lock this year's material pricing.
